The DAkpabli National Readathon is proud to announce the return of the national reading campaign for 2020. The Readathon is an initiative which seeks to promote book reading for pleasure across Ghana as well as local authorship. Since its inception six years ago, it has served patrons in seven cities across the southern half of Ghana with plans to extend the campaign to the rest of the regions.

Happening on Saturday, June 13, the next edition of the roadshow public reading project which has brought book reading closer to a cross-section of Ghanaians will feature nine (9) star-studded authors cutting across different generations of authors/writers in Ghana in the three-hour-long programme. Some of the authors are returnees to the campaign and others are first-timers. Authors who have made appearances on the Readathon train include Golda Naa Adaku Addo, Boakyewaa Glover, Martin Egblewogbe, Rodney Nkrumah-Boateng, Elizabeth-Irene Baitie, Ruby Goka, Alba K. Sumprim. They all left their marks on the Readathon train.

Due to the new normal the world has been introduced to as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, the first reading campaign for 2020 will be held via Zoom from 2.30 PM to 6 PM on Saturday, June 13.

“It is exciting to have the campaign back. We are also excited about how we will be using technology to reach more people with this campaign. Another thing that makes this first edition a thriller to look forward to is the authors we have lined up and the schedule we will be following. We are also grateful that we are in a position to bring entertainment via reading to our readers and followers despite the darkness that overshadows the world currently. We believe our readings will bring relief in the least way possible to everyone. We urge everyone to attend,” said Kofi Akpabli about the return of the Readathon Project.

The full list of the nine (9) authors for the next DAkpabli reading as well as the zoom conference credentials will be announced later.
